We plan to told the 2021 Christmas Market on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 December, subject to any changes in government guidance.
Adding to the Christmas Market experience here in Knaresborough, we are delighted to usually present a variety of artists to entertain you.
This includes Morris dancing from local troupes of both male and female dancers, young musicians from our schools, traditional brass band music, carol singing by local church members and seasonal songs from the choral society.
Market Square and Stage
Take a minute to explore the streets adjoining the Market Square and you will discover the delightful Castlegate area. Here you will find a wide range of independent shops and businesses and a pretty courtyard full of festive surprises.
Head to Green Dragon Yard to take part in the Knaresborough Charity Elf Hunt – lots of fun for all the family and for a great cause.
Visit the ‘Our Knaresborough, Our Stories’ exhibition in the town’s very own pop-up museum at Claro Chambers (former NatWest Bank).
Train Station and Kirkgate
Finally, make sure you leave time to visit the stunning Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church down by the train station. With over 100 beautifully decorated trees, this is a must see for anyone visiting Knaresborough over the Christmas market weekend. From the Market Square, follow Kirkgate down the side of Six Poor Folk until you reach the train station and the church is just in front of you.
Note: Take the footpath down the side of Six Poor Folk to access Kirkgate. However, there is also an alternative route down the High Street. Take the road out of the Market Place down the side of Boots onto the High Street, turn left and then left again by Wetherspoons and the post box. Turn right at the end of the road and this will take you back onto Kirkgate and down to the train station and Christmas Tree Festival.
