Continue down Castlegate to Brymor Ice Cream and you will see the entrance to Knaresborough's historic castle grounds on your right. A former Royal residence and still owned by the King today, Knaresborough Castle was once a stronghold of Mediaeval Kings and administrative heart of the 'Forest of Knaresborough'. The grounds are free to enter and offer a great viewpoint over the town's picturesque viaduct. Visitors can also pay to enter the Courthouse Museum between 10am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
