The Market

Join us on 5 and 6 December 2026 for a wonderful festive event in the picturesque North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough, with quality stalls, independent shops and live entertainment.

Knaresborough's Christmas Market Weekend is centred around the town's historic Market Place, although there are festive events for all ages taking place throughout the town.

Whilst Knaresborough is a very dog friendly town, please think about your pets before you come to the market. It will be extremely busy, so they may be more comfortable staying at home, especially on the Sunday when there is a firework finale.

Proceed to the Castle grounds or riverside for the grand firework finale over the Viaduct at 4.30pm. Best viewed from the Castle Top or anywhere along the Viaduct river side.

Whilst you're here, make sure you leave time to explore our many independent shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants, historic castle, famous viaduct river view, stunning Christmas Tree Festival at St John's and Mother Shipton's Cave Christmas Experience (must be pre-booked online)🎄.
There is a free Park and Ride at GSPK on Manse Lane too (HG5 8LF) and a spectacular firework finale at 4.30pm on Sunday, set against the backdrop of Knaresborough's stunning viaduct and Nidd Gorge. Pet owners note that this will last around 10 minutes.
Payment Options
Whilst most stallholders will accept cards, there are now only two ATMS in the town centre, so you may find it easier to bring cash with you if you are likely to need it. 

There are two ATMs in Knaresborough; one at Sainsbury’s Local by the bus station and another one at Tesco Express on the High Street. Most stalls and shops will accept cards, but you are advised to bring plenty of cash, as the machines in town may run out. There is an additional ATM at the Co-op petrol station (HG5 8LH) close to the market Park & Ride car park on Manse Lane.

The Knaresborough Banking Hub will also be open from 11am - 4pm on Sunday 6 December. Covering most major banks and building societies, the counter services will allow visitors and market traders access to cash during the second day of the market. You can find the Banking Hub on the road down the side of Six Poor Folk, which continues down to the railway station.
